Who are we
Hello,
We are Ronny & Yolande and emigrated from Belgium to South Africa in 2007.
The love of nature and the importance of exploring and understanding foreign cultures together with a global travel experience is the base of the service that Pongoa Travel provides to their customers. Especially the personal service and guidance during your vacation is one of the biggest concerns of Pongoa.
A few days stay at Ponciana Superior Guesthouse, the B&B that we started in 2007, is the perfect start or end to your trip. After travelling in South America, the Caribbean, Sri Lanka, Canada and the United States, our attention fell on the African continent. After a first visit to Senegal, the African feeling ran through the veins and from that moment we decided that Africa would always be a part of us. In the following years more visits to Tunisia, Egypt, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Gambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia followed and after the immigration to South Africa, Namibia, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe were also explored.
Today, the knowledge of all these journeys has been brought together to be able to offer travellers the most complete package that requires the needs of a distant and unknown destination.
Ronny, is a qualified South African National Guide who speaks different languages (Dutch, Afrikaans, English, German and French) and he is your ideal contact to explore the South African continent.
Moreover, he is a keen photographer and he has taken all the photos in this catalogue.
Our transport
To make your journey as pleasant as possible, we use transport that is adapted to the needs of your journey. Below you can find an overview of our transport which offer you the necessary comfort.
In addition to our fleet of cars, there is of course also the possibility to pick up a rental car upon arrival at OR Tambo Airport and drive yourself to Ponciana Superior Guesthouse and arrange your own program from there. An international driver’s license from your country is required. We can arrange everything for you so that the car is reserved upon your arrival and can be picked up quickly so you don’t loose any time. Subject to a small surcharge, a GPS can also be rented for the car. On request we also arrange a shuttle service to bring you to Ponciana.
Landrover Defender 2.4 TD Puma
Our Landrover is made for the heavy work. With 5 seats, a double 140I diesel tank, an additional 45I water tank, winch in front, refrigerator, lift jacket, radio connection, high-beam headlights, Off-road GPS Tracks for Africa, satellite telephone, dual battery system so that laptops, cameras and telephones can be charge constantly during the journey, strong luggage rack and top boxes for the safe storage of luggage, this is a car that allows us to survive for days in the most rugged areas of Africa. It is right to say: “Where the road stops, the Landie goes on”.
In the past, when we crossed rivers and swamps in Botswana, this car has already proven that it is made for the bush.
